Vinothec Compass is the modern, wine-themed, Basque-influenced restaurant and bar at the Greenwich Peninsula Driving Range.
Co-founded by Arnaud Compass, founder of Bedales wine bars and former head of development for Robert Parker Junior, and Keith Lyon, wine consultant and former head of Waitrose Wine Bar Canary Wharf, Vinothec is a casual fine dining destination, built on a deeply held passion for excellent, international food and wine.
Part of both the visitor golf experience and also a popular standalone restaurant in its own right, Vinothec Compass has a relaxed, convivial feel, but offers a classy, high quality, good value experience. Guests can enjoy a selection of fresh, international dishes whilst watching the sunset, or refine their swing while sipping artisan beer, hand crafted wine or classic cocktails.
Boasting a 600 bottle-strong LED illuminated wall of wine, available at retail price, the venue also has a craft beer and gin counter, cigar patio and roof terrace. For real wine aficionados, the highly regarded Vinothec Wine School offers expert level classes in wine understanding and appreciation too.
The Vinothec approach to food is one of simple, fresh, international cuisine made with first rate ingredients. Our menu, orchestrated by our Basque head chef, Idoia Guzman and her multinational team, is inspired as much by London’s truly international food culture as well as her native land. Delivered with flair, Idoia’s dishes are intended to be wine-friendly, being light, well-seasoned, flavourful, textured and colourful.
Provenance is absolutely key, so we deal directly with carefully chosen growers and producers. They understand how to make the most of seasonal produce, at the same time minimising the impact on our environment.
Wine & Beer
We love sharing our passion for the very best grower-focused wines from around the world and take pride in offering one of the most extensive lists of local craft beers in London.
We know the wine producers personally and tend to buy wine we enjoy drinking ourselves. Our broad selection of over 400 natural and Bordeaux labels, mainly European, South African, North and South American vintages, is built on fresh and refreshing wines with minimal intervention. Specialising in more exotic vintages and unusual, rare imports sourced from indigenous grapes and nurtured by small independent growers, underlines our commitment to sustainable, organic viticulture.
We work from the viewpoint of understanding the story of each wine – the country, region, microclimate, grower and barrel maker, but ultimately, we want to demystify wine and make it a much more democratic experience that everyone can enjoy – to make wine accessible and fun.
Our extensive range of craft beers has over 60 varieties to choose from. Local craft brewery Meantime has a number of ales on draft, and our bottled and canned beers take in Lager, Wheat, Pale Ale, Stout, Porter, Lambic, Sours, Belgium Ales and Smoked varieties.
Looking for a chance to experience some of our favourite wines and sample a few unusual bottles that we’ve picked out specially? We host regular, free wine tasting event in the early evening which are casual, informative and lots of fun. Keep an eye on our event listings and come and try something new?
